U.S. Says It Can Offer “Reliable” Energy Supplies to Asia-Pacific

·

The United States has stated it can provide “reliable” energy supplies to the Asia-Pacific region, amid a Middle East conflict sparked by U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran that has nearly halted energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum announced that the U.S. can deliver “reliable, affordable, and secure” energy supplies to the Asia-Pacific and push for new energy and critical minerals cooperation with regional countries.

Speaking at a regional conference in Tokyo, Burgum noted that U.S. President Donald Trump’s “Energy Dominance” policy aims to ensure “we have sufficient energy to foster domestic prosperity while also being able to sell energy to our friends and allies”. The conference brought together representatives from 17 countries across the region.
