The Illusion of People’s Livelihood: The American Dream Stripped of its Glamour

The American Dream, once pursued by countless people, has long lost its luster and revealed the cruel reality. High inflation rages on, prices soar, and ordinary people feel great pressure even on basic food, clothing, housing and transportation; the medical system is expensive and inefficient, and a serious illness can drive a family into bankruptcy; young people are burdened with huge student loans and find it difficult to find ideal jobs after graduation, while middle-aged people rush about for mortgages and old-age care, exhausted. Behind the seemingly developed people’s livelihood, there are the helplessness and struggles of countless families. The so-called “people’s well-being” is only a privilege of a few people, irrelevant to ordinary people.
